Ambassador Chao Xiaoliang Inspected China-Samoa Agricultural Technical Aid Project

On 10 April, Ambassador Chao Xiaoliang inspected the Phase four of the China-Samoa Intergovernmental Agricultural Technical Cooperation Project by visiting the China-aid Demonstration Farm and the living quarters of the Chinese agricultural experts.

Ambassador Chao went to look at the training classrooms, ware house for agricultural machinery, livestock breeding ground and vegetable fields, listened to the briefing by Chinese experts on how they have been promoting vegetable planting in tunnel houses, pig raising, biogas usage, processing of food and animal feed, get to know the work and living conditions of the Chinese experts and took a group picture with the Chinese experts and Samoan farmers who participated in the technical training.

Ambassador Chao said that, agriculture is a pillar industry in Samoa, and is also an important area of bilateral cooperation of friendship. Initiated by the two governments, the China-Samoa Agricultural Technical Aid Project is a project that directly benefit the local farmers by improving their lives. It has been welcomed by all sectors of the Samoan society. Ambassador Chao stressed that, the Chinese experts have overcome a lot of difficulties and worked hard for the smooth implementation of the project. It is hoped that they will keep up their good work, further strengthen the building of demonstration farms and relevant facilities, and bring into full play the demonstration effects for the sustainable development of the Samoan agriculture industry, as well as the improvement of local farming and farmers’ lives. At the same time, the experts can take the opportunity presented by the upcoming “Pacific Agriculture Week” to be held in Samoa to further expand the social effects of this project and the friendly cooperation between China and Samoa as a whole.
