Chinese Ambassador to Samoa Fei Mingxing Attends the Launch Event of FAO “One Country One Priority Product” Samoa Project

On November 18, Chinese Ambassador to Samoa Fei Mingxing attended the Launch Event of the Global Proejct on Sustainable Development of Cocoa in Samoa under the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Programme and Technical Workshop on the Implementation of "One Country One Priority Product" (OCOP) Initiative for the Pacific. More than 60 representatives joined the event, including Associate Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of Samoa ,Hon. Aiolupotea Misa Tony Aiolupo, Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative of FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, Mr Alue Dohong, Sub-regional Coordinator of FAO Sub-regional Office for the Pacific, Mr Guangzhou Qu, as well as delegates from Pacific island countries.

Ambassador Fei congratulated Samoa on the official launch of the initiative and hoped the project become a regional model. He emphasized China’s strong commitment to agricultural cooperation with Samoa and its willingness to share experience with Samoa and the FAO to jointly promote sustainable agricultural development.

Associate MinisterAiolupotea expressed gratitude for the project and hoped it would contribute to Samoa’s agricultural progress and healthier diets.

Mr Alue Dohong thanked the Chinese government for its support for OCOP and expressed confidence that the project would strengthen the sustainability of Samoa’s agricultural sector.
