As time flies, we are about to usher in New Year's Day 2026. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Samoa, I am delighted to extend my warmest and most sincere wishes to each and every one of you!

2025 has been an extraordinary year for China. We successfully concluded the 14th Five-Year Plan, scoring remarkable achievements in comprehensively deepening reform and advancing high-quality opening-up. We solemnly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, honoring history and inheriting the spirit of peace. President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Governance Initiative, and together with China's other three global initiatives, it continues to offer Chinese wisdom and solutions for humanity to navigate global changes and address common challenges.

2025 has also been a historic year for China-Samoa relations, brimming with fruitful outcomes. The China-Samoa visa exemption agreement officially came into force. Three China-aided primary schools were completed and handed over. Twenty-six Samoan students embarked on their study journeys in China. Creative handicrafts and sewing technology training programs were successfully held in both Upolu and Savaii. When Samoa faced power outages and a dengue fever outbreak, China stood firmly alongside, providing support and assistance.

Most notably, 2025 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Samoa—a milestone worthy of grand celebration. President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang exchanged congratulatory messages with Samoan Head of State Tuimalealiʻifano Vaʻaletoʻa Sualauvi II and Prime Minister La'aulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt respectively, charting the course for the continuous development of our bilateral ties.

Looking ahead, the prospects of China-Samoa relations are bright and promising. China is ready to work hand in hand with Samoa to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation across various fields, and promote the building of a closer China-Samoa community with a shared future, so as to bring more tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.
